#109 - John Strohm

John Strohm is a musician, songwriter, attorney and former label head who just released his fourth solo album Something to Look Forward To.

He's been involved in music for more than 4 decades, from playing guitar and drums for The Lemonheads to serving as president of Rounder Records from 2017 - 2022. Along the way he's worked with a hit list of influential artists: Bon Iver, The Civil Wars, Phoebe Bridgers, The Alabama Shakes, and more.

John was a key player in the Boston folk-pop scene of the nineties and early 2000’s. In addition to his work with the Lemonheads, was a member a the Juliana Hatfield Trio, and co-founded the Blake Babies.

As far as Nashville is concerned, he’s one of those guys you regularly see out there at the clubs. He’s helped a lot of artists, formally as an attorney, but also as a kind of low-key matchmaking, alot quicker to connect like minds than he is to take credit for it. I really enjoyed this conversation and I got to join him on a couple songs in the studio.
